The Boots
A commanding pair of vintage Justin cowboy boots in genuine pre-ban grey anteater — one of the rarest and most visually dramatic exotics in the entire boot world. The anteater vamps display the unmistakable large, bold, diamond-shaped scale pattern in a cool grey/silver coloration that’s unlike anything else in leather. The scales are thick, raised, and deeply defined — creating a three-dimensional, almost armor-like texture that wraps generously from the pointed snip toe up over the instep and all the way around the heel counter.
Above the anteater, the charcoal/black leather shafts are decorated with elaborate silver/grey flame-and-wave stitchwork — flowing, serpentine patterns that echo the organic movement of the anteater scales below. The monochromatic grey-on-black palette is cohesive and sophisticated — exotic without being loud, dramatic without being flashy.

Condition
These boots are in good vintage condition with honest wear. The grey anteater vamps are intact with the scale pattern sharply defined — the large diamond scales are tight, raised, and show no significant cracking or separation. There is natural wear and slight darkening at the toe tips and some surface marking on the scales consistent with age (see close-up photos). The charcoal/black leather shafts are supple with creasing and the silver flame stitchwork fully intact. The scalloped collar edges are clean and well-defined. As shown in the sole photos, the leather soles display moderate-to-heavy wear and the rubber heel caps show honest use. Overall a structurally sound pair with the anteater in good shape and the dramatic scale pattern beautifully preserved.
