1960s • Sears & Roebuck • Thunderbird Inlay • Men’s 11.5 D
These 1960s Sears & Roebuck boots are a great example of how much personality could be packed into a catalog-sold Western boot. Cream leather shafts carry large green-and-orange thunderbird inlays, framed by additional green accents near the scalloped tops and decorative stitching through the surrounding panels. Smooth chocolate-brown leather below has developed a rich patina that gives the brighter shaft work a warmer, more lived-in backdrop. The narrow pointed toes and stacked Western heels finish the pair with a distinctly mid-century profile.
Why We Love Them
The thunderbird design is bold without being overly complicated, and the cream, green, orange and chocolate palette feels unmistakably of the period. It is also a nice surviving example of decorative Western footwear that reached buyers through one of America’s major catalog retailers.
