Bullfrog is one of the less commonly encountered exotic leathers in Western boots, and on this Black Jack pair the hide is allowed to do most of the work. The vamps show the leather’s naturally irregular mottling in olive, charcoal and tan tones, with the panels matched cleanly across both boots. Supple chocolate-brown goatskin shafts keep the rest of the design understated, finished with flowing tonal stitchwork and Black Jack pull straps. It is an unusual exotic presented in a very traditional, wearable shape rather than treated as a novelty.

The appeal is the leather itself. Bullfrog has a pattern and texture that is immediately different from the alligator, ostrich and snakeskin most collectors see regularly, and Black Jack paired it with simple brown shafts that let the vamps remain the focus.
