1992 • Roberto Robledo • Custom Morning Glory Inlay • Women’s 9 B
Made in Albuquerque in 1992, this custom Roberto Robledo pair has a very different feel from a factory-produced decorative boot. Golden-honey leather shafts become the background for a climbing morning-glory vine, with individually cut green leaves and stems winding around all sides and raised purple flowers worked into the composition. Purple leather returns at the toe overlays, collar bands and heel counters, which keeps the floral theme tied into the actual structure of the boot rather than sitting on top as decoration. The result is unmistakably custom — asymmetrical enough to feel hand-composed, but still carefully balanced from boot to boot.
Why We Love Them
The dimensional flowers are what give this pair its character. Instead of a flat stitched motif, the leaves, vines and blossoms have visible relief and movement, and the 1992 date gives the boots a clear place in time rather than leaving the story anonymous.
