The Boots
A sharp, distinctive pair of Lucchese boots crafted in genuine ostrich leg — the striking, scaly lower-leg skin that’s one of the most sought-after and unusual exotics in bootmaking. Finished in a rich black cherry/burgundy with matching leather shafts, these deliver serious texture and understated luxury from one of the most respected names in American bootmaking.
Ostrich leg is prized precisely because it looks nothing like the familiar round quill bumps of ostrich body. Instead, the vamps display the bird’s reptilian-looking lower-leg skin — a dense, irregular field of overlapping scales that runs down the vamp with a natural gradient of texture, catching the light with a glossy finish. It’s bold, tactile, and instantly recognizable to anyone who knows exotics. The skin is finished in a deep black cherry tone that shifts between oxblood and near-black depending on the light, and it extends across the vamps and over the instep.
The shafts are crafted from matching leather with tonal stitchwork, pull straps, and a classic round toe on a stacked Western heel. Inside, the boots carry the Lucchese pedigree over a leather lining.
Lucchese & Ostrich Leg
The Lucchese Boot Company was founded in San Antonio, Texas, in 1883, and for over 140 years the name has stood for the very finest in American bootmaking. Ostrich leg is among the more specialized exotics — harder to source and work with than standard body ostrich — making a Lucchese ostrich leg pair a genuine standout for the collector who appreciates something different. Like all ostrich, it’s durable, ages beautifully, and offers rich natural character no two pairs share.
Condition
These boots are in good condition with honest wear. The ostrich leg vamps are intact with the scaly texture well-defined and the black cherry finish glossy and rich; there is some honest wear and light marking at the toes consistent with use (see photos). The matching leather shafts are supple with the tonal stitchwork intact. As shown in the sole photos, the leather soles display honest wear from use but remain solid, and the stacked heels show wear with the heel caps intact. The interior is clean. Overall a well-cared-for pair with plenty of life left.
