The Boots
A standout pair of vintage 1970s Laramie boots featuring one of the coolest themed designs you’ll find — a fully embroidered oil derrick / drilling rig rising up the front of each tall shaft. A genuine oilfield tribute boot, this is the kind of distinctive, story-telling vintage piece that’s nearly impossible to find, especially in this condition. Pure 1970s Texas-Oklahoma oil-patch character.

The shafts are the showpiece. Each one features a tan leather inlay panel framing a detailed hand-embroidered oil derrick — the rig rendered entirely in thread, complete with the tower lattice, crown block, and a green base, set against the lighter leather. Surrounding the derrick panel, the rich chocolate-brown shaft erupts with elaborate rainbow stitching — flame and starburst patterns worked in multiple colors of thread (greens, golds, reds, and blues) that catch the light and give the boots tremendous visual energy. The two-tone construction pairs the deep brown upper shafts with warm golden-tan lower shafts and vamps, divided by a scalloped seam.

The vamps are smooth golden-tan leather with a classic round toe, finished with a stacked leather walking heel and pull straps. The tall stovepipe shaft gives them a striking, leg-lengthening silhouette. The interior is leather-lined.

Condition
These boots are in good pre-owned condition with honest wear — and plenty of life left. The tan and brown leather is supple with a warm patina, showing some scuffing and light marking at the toes and across the vamps consistent with vintage wear (see photos). The embroidered derricks and the rainbow shaft stitching are fully intact, crisp, and vibrant. As shown, the leather soles display honest wear from use but remain solid with branded heel caps intact, and the stacked heels are sturdy. Overall a well-cared-for, structurally sound pair ready to wear and enjoy.

The Appeal
An embroidered oil derrick. Rainbow stitching. Tall two-tone shafts. This is a genuine conversation-piece boot — a slice of 1970s oil-country Americana that’s as wearable as it is collectible. Themed vintage boots like this, especially with such detailed embroidery work, are exactly what collectors and oilfield-heritage fans hunt for. In a versatile women’s 8 B with real character and head-turning style, this is a special find for anyone who wants a boot with a story.
