The Boots
A superb pair of vintage 1970s Tony Lama boots crafted in genuine full ostrich — a premium step above the usual vamp-only exotic, with the luxurious quilled skin covering both the vamps AND the shafts, head to top. Finished in a warm cognac/whiskey tone with tonal stitchwork and a classic round toe, these are everyday exotic luxury from one of the most trusted names in Western footwear.
The full-quill ostrich is the star. The dense field of raised quill bumps — the prized center-cut pattern — covers the entire boot, from the vamps up the full height of the shafts, giving them a rich, tactile texture and a soft natural luster throughout. The skin glows in warm cognac and whiskey-brown tones with the supple, oily richness ostrich is famous for. The tall shafts are finished with tonal stitching and pull straps, and the boots rest on a stacked Western heel. Full-ostrich construction like this required significantly more premium skin than a standard vamp-only pair — a true mark of quality.

Tony Lama & Full-Quill Ostrich
Tony Lama has been crafting boots in El Paso since 1911, building a reputation as one of the world’s most recognized Western boot brands. Ostrich is among the most desirable exotic leathers for boots — remarkably soft and flexible (requiring almost no break-in), naturally oil-rich so it resists cracking, and only more beautiful with age. A vintage full-ostrich Tony Lama, with the quilled skin covering the entire boot, is a genuine premium find.
Condition
These boots are in good vintage condition with honest wear. The full-quill ostrich is supple and intact throughout, with the quill pattern well-defined and a rich, glowing patina; there is some honest wear and light marking consistent with age and use, including scuffing at the toes (see photos). The tonal stitchwork is fully intact. As shown in the sole photos, the leather soles display honest wear from use but remain solid with the Tony Lama stamp visible, and the stacked heels show wear with the heel caps intact. The interior is clean. Overall a well-cared-for pair with plenty of life left.
