The Boots
A showstopping pair of vintage Justin cowgirl boots in a rich navy blue, featuring gorgeous butterfly inlays rendered in cream leather and green snakeskin. Tall, dramatic, and brimming with free-spirited 1970s/80s charm, these are exactly the kind of standout vintage boots that collectors and cowgirls dream of finding — and in a petite, hard-to-find women’s size 5.
The butterfly is the star. On the upper shaft of each boot, a large butterfly spreads its wings in layered cream leather and green snakeskin inlays, framed by delicate contrast stitching that captures every detail of the wings. A matching smaller butterfly inlay sits at the vamp near the toe, tying the motif together from top to bottom. The combination of the deep blue leather, the creamy white, and the green snakeskin is striking and unexpected — vivid without being loud.
The tall shafts are crafted from supple navy blue leather with elegant flame-and-scroll stitchwork in cream thread flowing the full height of each boot. The classic round toe, stacked Western heel, and pull straps complete the silhouette. The interior is leather-lined.
Justin Boot Company
Justin is one of the most storied names in American bootmaking — founded in 1879 by H.J. “Daddy Joe” Justin and based in Fort Worth, Texas, where it earned its reputation as the “Standard of the West.” Justin’s vintage women’s boots are prized today for their bold inlay designs and dependable construction, and this blue butterfly pair is a perfect example of the eye-catching artistry that makes vintage Justins so collectible.
Condition
These boots are in good vintage condition with honest wear. The navy blue leather is supple, showing creasing and a beautiful broken-in patina throughout the tall shafts (see photos). The cream and green snakeskin butterfly inlays remain intact and securely attached, with the contrast stitching crisp. The round toes show some scuffing at the tips, and the leather soles show wear from use but remain solid. The stacked heels show wear with intact heel caps. Overall a well-cared-for, beautifully styled pair with plenty of life left.
