Vintage Late 1980s Miss Capezio Butterfly Cowboy Boots — Women’s Size 6.5 M
The Boots
These are a bold and eye-catching pair of women’s cowboy boots by Miss Capezio in a vibrant red leather, featuring the brand’s iconic multicolor butterfly inlay design on the shaft. Made in the USA, these boots date to the late 1980s and represent the playful, fashion-forward side of Western wear that defined the era.

The upper is crafted from smooth, full-grain leather in a rich cherry red that covers the entire boot from toe to collar. The leather remains supple and has held its color beautifully, with only minor scuffing at the toe tips consistent with light wear. The interior is lined in black fabric — a common construction choice for fashion Western boots of this period that kept costs down while maintaining a clean interior finish.

The defining feature of these boots is the large butterfly inlay that spans the full shaft on both the front and back of each boot. The butterfly is executed in black leather with hand-painted or dyed accents in golden yellow and turquoise blue, creating a striking contrast against the red background. The wings extend upward toward the collar, with yellow teardrop-shaped accents radiating outward from the wing tips. White dot detailing (likely small leather punches revealing a white underlayer) traces along the butterfly’s body and lower wings, adding dimension and visual interest. The butterfly motif on the back mirrors the front, giving the boots a dramatic 360-degree presentation. This is not embroidery or stitching — it is true leather inlay work, with each colored piece individually cut and sewn into the shaft.

The shaft rises to a mid-calf height with a deep V-shaped dip at the front and back, creating the classic Western scalloped collar. Small pull tabs sit at the top on each side for easy on-and-off. The vamp (lower foot area) features subtle decorative stitching near the toe in a traditional Western pattern, keeping the lower portion understated so the butterfly artwork commands attention.

The toe is a pointed Western profile — not an extreme needle toe, but a fashionable snip that was standard for women’s boots of this period. The heel is a low, underslung Western walking heel with a black rubber cap, providing a modest lift suitable for all-day wear. The sole is leather with the Capezio name stamped into it, and appears to have seen very little wear — the leather on the bottom remains smooth and light tan in color with minimal scuffing, suggesting these boots were worn sparingly or primarily indoors.

Overall, these boots are in excellent vintage condition for their age. The leather is clean and intact, the inlay work shows no peeling or separation, the heels are solid, and the soles have substantial life remaining. They are a women’s size 6.5 M (medium width).
