The Boots
A classic, well-made pair of vintage Lucchese boots from the 1883 line, featuring genuine full-quill ostrich vamps in a rich whiskey/cognac brown. With premium exotic skin, beautiful flame-stitch shafts, and one of the most respected names in American bootmaking, these are a handsome everyday luxury boot — and in a hard-to-find wide 13 EE.
The ostrich vamps showcase the prized full-quill pattern — the dense field of raised quill follicles from the bird’s prime back hide that defines premium ostrich. The skin glows with a warm cognac-to-whiskey patina, supple and richly toned, with the characteristic soft luster ostrich is famous for. The exotic skin extends across the vamps and up over the instep, finished with a round toe for a timeless, wearable silhouette.
The tall shafts are crafted in a handsome two-tone brown leather — warm chestnut at the lower shaft transitioning to a deeper chocolate at the top — and adorned with elegant flame-and-feather stitchwork in golden tan thread that climbs the full height of each boot. Pull straps sit at the collar. The interior is leather-lined and clearly stamped “1883 by Lucchese,” confirming the pedigree, over a golden leather lining. The boots rest on leather soles with a stacked Western heel.

The Lucchese Boot Company was founded in San Antonio, Texas, in 1883 by Italian immigrant Salvatore Lucchese, and for more than 140 years the name has stood for the finest in American bootmaking. The “1883 by Lucchese” line honors that founding year and pairs the brand’s heritage and quality construction with genuine premium materials — exactly like the full-quill ostrich on this pair.
Ostrich remains one of the most desirable and comfortable exotic leathers for boots: it’s remarkably soft and flexible (requiring almost no break-in), the natural oils help it resist cracking, and it develops a richer character with age.
Condition
These boots are in good vintage condition with honest wear. The full-quill ostrich vamps remain supple and intact, the quill pattern clearly defined, with a rich glowing patina throughout; there is honest wear and some scuffing/marking at the toes consistent with age and use (see photos). The two-tone leather shafts show creasing and softening, with the golden flame stitchwork fully intact. The leather soles show wear from use but remain solid, and the stacked heels show wear with the rubber heel caps intact. The “1883 by Lucchese” interior stamp is present and legible. Overall a well-cared-for pair with plenty of life left.
