A beautiful vintage pair of Pecos Bill cowboy boots made with genuine pre-ban anteater, featuring the unmistakable large-scale pattern that makes this leather so highly sought after by collectors. The anteater is finished in a warm medium brown and paired with dark brown leather shafts featuring traditional contrasting Western stitching. The broad EE width, classic toe profile, and substantial vintage construction give these an especially strong presence. Most importantly, the anteater remains remarkably attractive and well preserved, making this an excellent example of a scarce vintage exotic.
Why We Love Them
The anteater is the centerpiece here. Each vamp displays large, deeply defined scales with excellent natural variation, and the leather extends around the counters for a substantial use of the exotic hide. The brown-on-brown combination is understated enough to let the texture of the anteater do the work, while the elaborate shaft stitching gives the boots plenty of traditional Western character. Genuine vintage anteater boots are increasingly difficult to find, particularly in this condition and in a desirable EE width.

Condition
Great vintage condition. The anteater leather presents exceptionally well for its age, retaining strong scale definition and an attractive, even finish. There is normal surface wear and creasing consistent with vintage use, along with expected wear to the heels, soles, and welt edges. The close-up photographs show the condition of the exotic leather particularly well. Overall, this is a very well-preserved pair with plenty of life remaining.
